Reusable Napkins for the Holiday Season
This holiday season, instead of stocking up on environmentally-harmful paper napkins, invest in some organic cotton or linen ones. According to The Green Book, the average American consumes over 2,200 paper napkins each year, which means more than six per day. More than one billion napkins could be saved from landfills each year if everybody decided to use just one less paper napkin per day, The Green Book said.

With parties and family get-togethers to host and attend during the month of December, it may be a good idea to purchase some reusable napkins. Janice's online store sells sets of organic cotton napkins in colors of cactus, pecan and natural. Each set of four napkins is $24.95. All of these easy-to-match napkin colors are naturally grown in the particular shade you see in the packaging. No dyes are used for the creation of these napkins.

Rawganique.com offers both organic linen napkins and place mates in Ivory and Evening Sand Dunes, or organic hemp napkins and place mats in Pistachio and Alpine Meadow Blue. The napkins are $16.95 for a set and the place mats are $18.95 for a set. According to the Rawganique Web site, the napkins and place mats are inspired by the table settings found at corner bistros in France. So rather than purchasing mass amounts of paper napkins decorated with snowflakes this season, pick up some good-for-the-earth napkins that you can use year round.
