Not ready to trade in fries for lettuce just yet? Going green can be easily accomplished by simply writing on both sides of paper, reducing its use. Paper surrounds us daily with numerous ways to utilize it—writing paper, tissue paper, cardboard boxes, masking tape, tea bags, airplane tickets, with the list going on and on. For nearly 2,000 years, paper has been present to wrap gifts, make paper planes, allow children to express art on and used for never-ending note taking in college. Thus the preservation and conservation of paper is crucial and according to the American Forest & Paper Association regarding the recycling of paper, “In 2005, a record 51.5 percent of the paper consumed in the U.S. (51.3 million tons) was recovered for recycling. Paper recovery now averages 346 pounds for each man, woman and child in the United States.” But not only is recycling paper an important step to keep the earth’s environment at ease, recycling in general can allow anyone to begin the green process without cost or hassle.
