Jamie Blanchard, 22, is a Tucson native with an unexplained obsession for figure skating. After spending days and weeks at a time in skating rinks covering events like the U.S. Championships for the
Arizona Daily Star, Figure Skaters Online and other outlets, Jamie has grown to dislike living on the foods that are aplenty in arenas — think doughnuts, fries and nachos. Her blog,
Fields of Green is part of her way to getting back to healthier living after eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., during the recent skating nationals. Aside from skating and writing, Jamie ventures in random shenanigans like updating her roommates' Facebook pages without them knowing. She also does freelance graphic and Web design.

Arizona Daily Wildcat as a sports reporter. She was also a sports intern at the
Tucson Citizen in Spring 2007. Currently, she is a copy editor at the
Wildcat. She also tutors and mentors student-athletes in the C.A.T.S. program and works a retail job. She hopes to one day be one of those recluse fiction writers or to go into magazine publishing. Her adorable Yorkshire Terrier, Dolce, makes her smile more than anything.

Arizona Daily Wildcat, and interned at the local Tucson daily, the
Arizona Daily Star as a business reporter. Her interests include education and how people treat our planet. Her blog,

Justin Adler is a junior at Arizona, majoring in journalism and Spanish. Somehow, he passes all his classes while maintaining a 90-to-10 mixture of reading sports blogs to textbooks. He’s written for the
Arizona Daily Wildcat and
Tucson Citizen covering University of Arizona sports and other local Tucson sports. He also created his own blog, Wherespmac.com, which cynically covers Arizona basketball, hip-hop and college life. His primary goals in life are to be interviewed by Terry Gross, find Paul McPherson and become the next Lang Whitaker or Dan Steinberg.
Catherine O’Connor is a senior at the University of Arizona studying journalism and communication. Melissa Krueger is a journalism senior at the University of Arizona and a copy editor for The CatScan. Melissa has been at the university newspaper, the
Arizona Daily Wildcat, for four semesters now, dabbling in sports reporting, editing and design. She is currently the managing editor there. She will be exploring what it means to have a green lifestyle through her weekly blog,
What It Means to Be Green. She plans to graduate in May — minus a few summer classes here and there — then it is off to the “real world,” as they say.
Michael Schwartz is a journalism senior who typically covers sports. He has worked eight semesters at the
Arizona Daily Wildcat, currently serving as the Arizona men’s basketball beat reporter. Last summer he worked as an associate reporter for MLB.com, where he covered the Arizona Diamondbacks, and next summer he will be in the same position covering the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reporting on green issues is certainly out of his comfort zone as a reporter, but he plans to take a look at the greener side of sports and food while serving as one of the three editors-in-chief. In typical sports reporter fashion, he is just trying to take things one day at a time and do his best, knowing that everything will take care of itself if he does that.

Rachel Nahmias is a photographer and writer from Burlington, Vt., who is concerned about the world and its inhabitants. Following many years of study in the visual arts, Rachel's photography looks to collect images that reflect her interest in the human element and the intricate relationship existing between people and their surroundings. When photographing a setting, Rachel always looks first for the details such as fallen petals reminiscent of a colorful marriage parade, jaguar prints in the mud or pitchers of honey in the Greek plaka. In this way, she works to evoke a sense of place for the viewer, bringing personality to where the photographs were taken and representing what the people who live there value. As a reporter, she strives to expose the realities of consumerism on the earth and on all who are involved in the start-to finish process. She also encourages readers to live healthful lifestyles that promote personal happiness and well-being while creating a domino effect of positivity for the rest of the world.
