Cactus Cove is the place to go for an eco-friendly getaway

TUCSON, Ariz. — "At Cactus Cove the quiet is real, not manufactured," said owner Sally Gunderman.

Gunderman moved to Tucson from Colorado about 10 years ago with a little idea: to open a bed and breakfast. After spending years in the fashion and boutique industry, she decided to switch careers and move away to the desert.

She gutted a Tucson home to create the space that now operates as the Cactus Cove Bed and Breakfast, a little inn with a green philosophy.

She said she decided to employ more eco-friendly practices after visiting Australia, a place she thinks is way ahead of the curve. Her trip inspired her to become a greener business owner.

Gunderman only uses one-ply toilet paper in her bed and breakfast and admits she is still learning how to make her establishment more eco-friendly.

Gunderman is a big proponent of not having grass on her property. Everywhere she goes she lets people know about her cause to get rid of grass.
