It might make you cringe to think about how much garbage from an event bypasses recycle bins and gets thrown straight into the trash, only to cease function as just another piece of waste in a landfill.

Tips to fit an organic diet into your budget
TUCSON, Ariz. — Keeping your diet organic while keeping on budget can prove to be difficult. Here are a few tips I have learned along the way to keep the cost down.

First, don't limit yourself to shopping in the organic section of your normal supermarket. Organic foods can be found in health food stores, co-ops, delis and farmers' markets.

Try to shop at a few different places so you can compare prices. Some organic food is overpriced at many smaller stores. Naked Juice, a popular organic blended juice, is sold at Albertson's for $2.99 a bottle. Whereas Naked Juice is sold for up to $3.69 a botlle at food co-ops.

Do research to find out places to buy organic food in your city; there may be more than you think.

You can also join a co-op, which is a member-owned business that provides groceries and other organic products to its members at a discount. While not the most inexpensive way to buy organic juice, many items sold at co-ops are grown by local family farms and are the best deal on organic food.

Here in Tucson the Food Conspiracy Co-op, 412 N. 4th Ave., was voted "Best in Tucson" organic food seller by the Tucson Weekly.

Growing your own organic produce is also a good option. Having a garden is fun and much easier than you would think according to organic-gardening.net.

If you are out running around and want to grab a healthy snack at a low cost, places like Jamba Juice offer a few all natural snack choices on top of a wide variety of healthy smoothies.
