Fabrics to watch out for
Some fabrics are worse for the environment than others. Two fabrics on the "no-no" list are cotton and polyester. Don't worry though, there are plenty of alternatives.

Cotton is one of the dirtiest crops in the world because it uses toxic chemicals that can poison farmers and water.

But there is a big demand for organic cotton. Farming with organic cotton can improve the soil and pollute the water and air less. It provides many other great benefits to farmers as well such as better food security and improved health. You can purchase organic cotton at Wear Organic.

Another harmful fabric is polyester. This non-biodegradable fabric is hard to reprocess because of all the fabrics combined to create it, making it difficult to re-use.

Production of polyester can also lead to the emission of many harmful chemicals. A solution making "green" use of polyester is to not wear it but drink from it. Polyester makes plastic drinking bottles and can be recycled this way.

Next time you purchase clothing, stay away from regular cotton and polyester. For tips on sustainable fabrics and fashion tips, keep reading fashion and beauty tips.
