Check the banned substances list
Every retailer or brand should have a list of chemicals that are harmful to the environment.

Hazardous chemicals such as lead, nickel and chromium may be found on these lists.

The clothing line H&M has banned cadmium, lead, mercury, formaldehyde, PVC, phthalates, brominated flame retardants and certain dyes in an effort to stop the use of environmentally toxic chemcials.

Make sure to call the brand company or ask the retailer if you are in a boutique to inquire about whether or not they have a list of banned substaces before making purchases.

It is a small but effective step you can take toward dressing with a green mindset.
