How to get tax credit from living green
TUCSON, Ariz. — It’s tax season again, and that means refunds.
Before April 15, many people will be doing whatever they can to get the most money out of the government. And whether it’s a business or a household, there are a couple of ways to get a larger refund from living the green way. Steven Schwartz, manager at Henry & Horne, LLP in Scottsdale, Ariz., said people can get tax credits for installing efficient air conditioning units and for building their house or business to be energy efficient. He also said hybrid car owners can apply for tax credit. It is also possible get a bigger refund by giving back to those less fortunate. The easiest way to do that is to donate used clothes to organizations like Goodwill Industries. Monica Molinares, an employee in the accounting department at the Southern Arizona branch, said people must pick up a receipt from an attendant at one of Goodwill stores to guarantee a tax credit. She added that Goodwill “does not determine the values” that people may receive. That number is determined during the taxation process.
